Kujang is a unique weapon of the West Java area. Kujang began to be made around the 8th century or 9th, made from iron, steel and pamor, length approximately 20 to 25 cm.
Kujang is a tool symbolizes strength and courage to protect the rights and truth. Kujang is unique, as weapons, farm tools, symbol, decoration, or souvenirs.
In the past Kujang can not be separated from daily life because of its function as a Sundanese agricultural equipment. We can still be seen today in Baduy (or Badui) society, Banten and Pancer Pangawinan in Sukabumi, kujang use as farm equipment.
Kujang known as the traditional weapon by West Java (Sunda) society, which has a sacred value and magical powers. Some researchers states that the word “kujang” is derived from the word kudihyang (kudi and Hyang. Kujang also comes from the word ‘Ujang’, which means human or Manusa). Humans are powerful as Prabu(King) Siliwangi.
Kujang has an idea as heirlooms that have a certain strength that comes from the gods (= Hyang), and as a weapon, since long ago till now Kujang is a very special weapon among the people of West Java (Sunda). As an emblem or symbol with philosophy values , Kujang used as one of aesthetics in emblem of the organizations.
